Routines on a schedule and on webhooks, results in an inbox

medium15 minroutines-inbox.ts

An agent should work without anyone typing: every weekday morning, and whenever an issue is opened on GitHub, with the results waiting somewhere to read.

What it shows

  • Define routines with a cron trigger and a GitHub trigger under experimental_triggers
  • Mount the trigger routes on Express: the GitHub delivery is checked by its signature, a redelivery starts no second run
  • The issue text reaches the model as untrusted data after the routine prompt, never as the task
  • Read the results in the inbox, in code or with cogitator inbox from the same folder

Run it

install · bash
pnpm add @cogitator-ai/core @cogitator-ai/express express cron-parser
EnvironmentGOOGLE_API_KEYGITHUB_WEBHOOK_SECRET (optional)
run · bash
GOOGLE_API_KEY=your-key npx tsx routines-inbox.ts

Or run the full example from a clone of the repository (keys in .env):

repository · bash
npx tsx examples/core/33-triggers.ts

The first delivery answers 202 started, the redelivery 200 duplicate. The standup routine is fired by hand here, its schedule runs it every weekday at 9 in Berlin while the process lives.
